We've all done it. You're in a hurry to dig into a home improvement project, so you barrel off to the hardware store, home center or lumberyard without first taking inventory of exactly what you need.

Multiple trips later to the hardware store, home center or lumberyard, the job is completed, but you're exhausted.

The idea with the list that follows is that it forces you to think through every step of the job. In doing so, you'll be more likely to do the job efficiently. You'll eliminate unnecessary trips to the hardware store, or even to the toolshed or workshop.
